An angel of the Lord appeared from heaven at the
Homegoing of Alfred Emil Grace, who departed this life
on August 29, 2010 to rest in peace.
To everything there is a season and a time to be born
on August 11, 1959. Alfred Emil Grace was born to Willie
and Mattie G. Grace in Mobile, Alabama.
He accepted Christ as his personal savior and was
baptized by Rev. H. A. Stokes at Mt. Olive First Baptist
Church in Mobile, Alabama. Alfred graduated from Sam
Houston High School in 1977. he worked at H.B. Zachary
and as a mechanic. He love to work on cars and go fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father Willie G. Grace,
his grandmothers Tisher Bell Gibson and Julia Grace, his
grandfathers Shack Gibson and Gus Grace, his brother
Willie Knight, Jr., and his special friend for twelve years
Stephanie Denise Fagan.
Alfred leaves to cherish memorable time forever in the
hearts of his loving mother Mattie G. Grace, his son
Alfred Grace, Jr., Reginald Fagan and Destiny Dukes, four
stepsons, two stepdaughters, and twelve step-
grandchildren, three brothers Nathaniel Grace, Herman
Grace and Jerome Grace, his sister-in-law Kathleen Grace,
four sisters Christina Whittington of Chicago, Anne Bell
Knight of Mobile, Alabama, Alice Benson (Charles) and
Anita Foster (Lionel) of San Antonio, Texas and a host of
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In tears we saw you sinking and watched you slowly
fade away. Our hearts were almost broken because we
wanted you to heal and stay. When we saw you
sleeping so peacefully and so removed from pain how
could we be so selfish to ask that you come back and
suffer again. I know you're in God's Hands right now,
with no aches or pain to bear. And I know we'll meet
again someday, as we will strive to meet you there.

Perhaps you sent a lovely card
Perhaps you sent a lovely card,
or sat quietiy in a chair.
Perhaps you sent a floral spray,
if so, we saw it there.
Perhaps you prayed a sincere prayer,
or came to pay a call
Perhaps you sang a cheerful song,
if so, we heard it all
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words,
as any friend could say,
Perhaps you were not there at all,
just thought of us that day.
Perhaps you prepared a tasty dish,
or maybe furnished a card
Perhaps you rendered a service unseen,
Near at hand or from afar
Whatever you did to console our hearts,
By word or deed or touch,
Wherever was the kindly part,
We thank you so very much!
