Mrs. Bella Holley Cameron was the daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Holley Sr., and the widow of the late
Julius S. Cameron. She lived an oustanding life of usefulness
toward the uplifting of humanity, bestowing freely and unsel-
fishly her talent, influence, and time for the betterment of the
community touching all phases of the religious, educational,
social and civic life of the people.
Mrs. Cameron was a native daughter of San Antonio. She
attended and graduated from the local schools, and gained her
higher education by attending Prairie View College, Wiley
College, Colorado State, and other institutions of higher learn-
ing.
She served in the San Antonio City School System as a
classroom teacher from 1919 until 1941 when her meritorious
services gained for her the principalship of the Cuney Elemen-
tary School where she served faithfully and well until 1964. At
that time Mrs. Cameron was chosen to be principal of the
Booker T. Washington Elementary School. She served in this
capacity until upon the doctor's orders she graciously retired in
the summer of 1966. During her months of illness she leaned
heavily upon the Lord.
Mrs. Cameron loved people and especially the children. She
always exhibited deep concern for her profession, and was
ever true to her offices in St. Paul Church where she served as
a member of the Finance Board and a very liberal contributor
She was a charter member and past president of the Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority (local chapter); a member of the San
Antonio Administrators Council which she served as secretary;
member of the NEA; Y. W. C. A., and for the past five years
was very active in the local cancer drives.
A noble worker, and a tireless leader, Mrs. Cameron was
one who proved helpful, friendly, encouraging, inspiring, re-
liable, cultured and courteous as well as tactful. She passed
away at 4:15 p.m. September 7, 1966 at the San Antonio Con-
valescent Center, She was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by: Mrs. Irene T. Holley, Mrs. Mayme J.
Wells, Ernest A. Bailey Jr., Mrs. Ludell R. Bailey, Ernest A.
Bailey III, Mayme Yvonne Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell A.
Robbins Sr., Wendell A. Robbins Jr., Barbara I. Robbins, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert H. Bailey Sr., Robert H. Bailey Jr., Eileen
and Marjorie Bailey, Mrs. Agnes Wheelan and Matthew
Plummer.
