Transcript: "Phone Preston 3271 $420 Houston, Texas, May 21, 1929. ... have this day contacted wtih the Houston Monument Co., 2702 Washington Avenue, Houston, Texas for ... to be made of ... marble, granite, of the following dimensions, as follows: Width Thickness Height Marble Statuary with Die and Base as Shower in ground to be finished and inscribed as follows: Statuary 4-6 height, Die 1-2 x 1-2 x 1-6, Base 1-8 x 1-8 x 0-6. Die and Base to be made of granite. 5/22/29 paid down $100.00. Houston Monu Co. to Jng. Garcia. Balance in 13 months. To be sand blast letters. Description attached - These Goods to be the Property of Houston Monut. Company 2702 Wash. Ave. Houston, Tex. Until paid off Houston Monument Co. by F. Mo. Gassner. Grave no. 103. To be delivered at Holy Cross Cem., during the month of May, 27, 1929, or at a reasonable time thereafter, for which ... agree to pay to the Houston Monument Co., 2702 Washington Avenue, or order, at Houston, Texas, the sum of Four hundred and twenty dollars, on delivery. It is hereby agreed by the signatories who have affixed their names below, that (a) These goods being specially made, this order is not subject to countermand or reduction in quantity, and it any effort is made by the purchaser to cancel or change this order except by mutual agreement between both the contracting parties, then the amount of the purchase price specific above shall immediately become due and payable. (b) Verbal promises or agreements are not valid, and will not be recognized as a basis for claims by either party to this contract. (c) This order when signed by the purchaser and accepted by the Houston Monumnet Co., forms a legal contract between the signatories, and this order is given by the purchaser subject to all the above conditions and specifications.
