SUMMER ACTIVITIES PLANNED AT
LADIES' DAY LUNCHEON TUESDAY
' Summer activities were planned
at Jhe monthly Ladies' Day lun-,

Club oh Tuesday afternoon at one
* o'clock at the club house. Mrs.
Fred Griffin, chairman of the
.luncheon committee, was assisted
by Mrs. ' J. D. Hensley, Mrs.
George Throp and Mrs. Mlcheai

be held at Sunset Grove on that

afternoon which yviil be followed

and their families are invited to

I' bring a lunch. Lemonade will be
furnished at the club house. It
was • announced that) someone,
would be on hand to help care
for the children attending.
On Saturday, June 80, a sand-
wich bar will" be open at the club
house. Sandwiches and soft
drinks will be sold on Saturday
afternoons to the golfers. A con-'
test is now undei way to select a
naitie for the sandwich room and
all entries must be turned in at
the club lioust? before Thursday
night. ;
On Tuesday mortiipg of next
week,,1beginning at nine o'clock a
golf ste<i>le"WiU start and all la-
dies wanting to enter are asked to
•b^ at .the; club house at that time.
Attractive prizes, including a
booby prize, are being contribu-
ted by Herbert Duhon, C. F. Ral-
eigh, W. E. Harding and Tony
Butler. '
Every Tuesday. Is Ladies' Pay
at Sunset ®ri ver Besides golf,
bridge games are held under su-
pervision of Mrs. Eugene Harmon,
bridge chairman, and lunch is
served.
The next monthly Ladies' Day
.luncheon will take place on the
fourth Tuesday in July.

Meets At Church 1
The North Orange Baptist Wo-
man's Missionary Union met in
regular monthly session on Tues-.
day morning at 6:30 o'clock at the
church with Mrs. Charles Bowling
presiding.'
The meeting opened with the
song, "Rescue the Perishing" and
M?s. F. J. Hargraves led the open-
ing prayer. Minutes were read by
Mrs. A. D. Holland and Mrs. J. H.
Fisk was elected secretary suc-
ceeding Mrs. R. J. Horn. Mr*.
W. H. Wallace was made Counselor
of the intermediate G. A.
Members of Circle Four pre-
sented the missionary program
with Mrs. V. M. Chambers in
charge. The devotional was giv-
en by Mrs. C. C. Hudson. Others
on the program were Mrs. H. H.
McCune and Mrs. J. C. Brewer.
Special music was a vocal duet
by Miss Mary "Elizabeth Brewer
and Miss Marie, Strother, accom-
panied at the piano by Miss Bob-
bie Ponders. Thirty-six >vomen
attended with Mrs. C. Mouton
as visitor.
The closing prayer was tjiyen by
wirs.'B. Wheeler.
Next week the circles of the
W, M. U. will meet separately in
the homes of the various mem-
bers. '

her tenth birthday anniversary ctn
Tuesday evening from five to

In the donkey game the first
p.riie was won by Patricia Purdy
and the booby prize went to Jack
Cosner. Other entertainment con-
sisted of games, and a playlet by
Sammle and Earl Ingram, Carl
Ray Fogleman. Mary Gem and
Travis Browning. A tap dance by
Eloise McDonald was given and a
vocal solo in French was render-
ed by Richard Ray Miller. A
vocal duet in Spanish was given
by Sammie Ingram and Pete Le-
Blanc.
Helping the hostess serve birth-
day cake, cookies and punch were
Patricia Purdy,Patricia Howell
and Eloise McDonald. American
Beauty roses decorated the re-
freshment table.
Others attending the party* were

The Friendship class of the
First Methodist church i« to have
a picnic supper at the home of

on Thursday evening at seven

Pilot Club Holds
Meeting Tuesday.
"Pilot Education" was the sub-
ject of the program given under
supervision^of Miss Marjorie Sin-
clair and. Miss Rozelle McKenney
on Tuesdiay night at the meeting
of the.Pilot Club in the Holland
Hotel. Miss Helen Carr served
as score keeper for the Pilot edu-
cation contest.
Balloting for officers of Pilot In-
ternational was held and plans
were discussed for a war memor-
ial for Orange service men. Re-
ports on the district Pilot con-
vention held recently in Dallas
were given by Mrs. Ahne Quig-'
ley and MM. Marie Griffin. Two
new members, Mrs?' Madge An-
derson and Mrs. Jessie Dickerson,
were in attendance. '1
The next regular meeting of
.the club will be held on Tuesday
night, July 10, at eight o'clock at
the Holland Hotel.
LADIES' BIBLE CLASS
MEETS FOR STUDY
The weekly Bible lesson of the
Ladies' Bible Class of the Presby-
terian chapel,, was presented by
Mrs. F. H. Dietzel on Tuesday af-
ternoon, beginning at 2:30 o'clock,
at the chapel. Ten members were
in attendance.
Miss Ima Harris led the open-
ing devotional. The Bible lesson
from the twenty - second and
twenty - third chapters of Deu-
teronomy was discussed by the
group.
The next meeting will be held
on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30
o'clock at the chapel with Mrs.
Lata"; Cundrey leading the devo-
tional arid Mrs; Dietzel in charge
of the lesson from the twenty-
fourtW^and twenty - fifth chapters'
of Deuteronomy.

that the class would disband for

be held on the first Tuesday af-

The T. N. T. Sewing club met
on Tuesday afternoon at three
o'clock with Mrs. Forrest Clough

spent in sewing and refreshments
were served to the ten members

The Intermediate Class of the
First Methodist church is reor-
ganizing again and will have a

Hebert led the opening prayer.
