CHS Academic Awards Banquet May IB
Canadian High School is hosting its 7th Annual Academ-
ic Awards Banquet on Tuesday, May 18, at the Canadian El-
ementary School Cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. "This is our opportu-
nity to recognize students who have excelled in academic ar-
eas during this school year," said CHS Principal Rick Berry.
Among the areas of recognition are top ten students in each
class, students who qualified for the Regional UIL meet, and
students named "Who's Who" by their classroom teachers.
Tickets may be purchased at CHS through Monday, May 17,
at $10 each. "If you plan to attend, please pui'chase tickets
no later than May 17th so that we may plan accordingly,"
said Berry. "As always, we appreciate your support of our
students." #19
Mark Erickson graduates from Tech Law School
The Texas Tech University School of Law will hold its
May Hooding Ceremony on May 15 at the United Spirit
Arena in Lubbock. The class of 194 students, which includes
Mark Houston Erickson, son of John and Kristine Erickson,
and a graduate of Perry ion High School, will be recognized
by Texas Tech University System Chancellor Kent Hance,
President Guy Bailey and Provost Bob Smith. Houston at-
torney Mark Lanier, a 1984 graduate of the law school, will
deliver the main address. Dean Walt Huffman will be the
master of ceremonies for the program and notes, "We are
always proud of our graduates and this year's class is no
exception. The Class of 2010 has earned many awards and
won a record number of advocacy competitions, in addition
to organizing a vast array of community service events for
the Lubbock community." TTU School of Law received word
on May 4th that the school had the highest bar passage rate
for the February 2010 Texas bar exam and also led the state
on the July 2009 Texas bar exam. #19
