My Dear Cousin
Your affectionate letter of the 17^ i-nY

last I rec. the other day after an absence of Some weeks
from my family, I found it on my return at the ^dst Office -
lour Son arrived „t my house last evening and this morning
we waited on M.** Collet - and found that he had arranged his
business so as to leave the City tomorrow or next day . He
told me that he had received no particular instructions from
M,** Austin in respect to money matters, and that he wou'd wiAh
much pleasure take care of your Son - i have this day ^aid to
him the bala of money in my hands due to you and your sister
$116.70 - which I have rec.** Since my last to you, and which
is in full of the purchase money for the farm sold - The
money for back rents has not yet been paid - i wrote imme-
diately to Acton and Reeves on my return home but have not
rec. an answer yet, l hope that they will give me no further
trouble - AS you wished me to inform you what was my opinion
in respect to the payment of the back rents - I dont hesitate
to say that th3irjrequest was unreasonable - and had they
