^ Moses Austin Esquire
Dear Sir
Your five Letters Viz. April 13.32^ and 28th, May
14th, and loth ware all received on the aarne day ^th current- Not-
withstanding the sum named by you, as a consideration for a quit
claim from Stephen Austin, did not equal the sum named by him his
being six Thousand Dollars yet as you proposed to jive up all
Lynches Bond of which he claimed but half, I thought it advisable to ^
make another communication to him,oA the subject altho you said nTo- *
thing of Dutcbamandys Debt in your proposition, I therefore address-
ed to him a note of which a Copy follows- ,

Agreeable to your desire I have communicated to Rf
Moses Austin, your proposition for a settlement of the dispute that
has so long Unfortunately existed between you, and regret that the
reply Is not such a^will admit of soecpress, an answer as was contem-
plated,. wh^n the propositions were drawn up, as I should be extreme-
ly 3orry to have the proposed settlement fall of taking effect- I here*
with give you the reply of M Austin that you may judge whether it is
best to name a smaller sum than the one first named taking into con-
sideration that ha Mill relinquish the Debt of Lynch to you, which he
considers good or that I destroy the Papers, as I must do if in the
other cagss -after mentioning the manor in which the dispute arose his ,
