death of the cross."
Jesus was both divine and
human. It was necessary for
him to be. that he might be the
one mediator between Goo and
man. (I Tim. 2:5). Throughout
the earthly life of Jesus we see
both the divine and human ele-
ments. As a man he attended a !
wedding; as God he changed'
water into wine, for the guest.
(John 2: 1-11) As a man he be-
came hungry (Matt. 21: 18) as
God he fed thousands with a few
loaves and fishes. (Mark 6:34-
44) as a man he wept at the
tombofLaxarus. as God he
raises Lt znrus from the dead

twelve legions of angels to de-
fend him. (Matt. 26:53). Asa
man, lie died on the cross, ant!
was buried. As God, he hau
power to come forth from the
grave(Matt. 27 and 28). Christ
is both prophet and priest, he
represents God to man and man
to God. In Christ we can sec
God as he is, and man as he
ought to be He can be "touched
with the feeling of our infirm-
ities." (Heb. 4:15).
