^ALVATION is more than a

Wtthout this promise, sinners
woutd be forever tost. Is there not
hope for ai) in the rca hunt ion that
Jesus, in the agony of death,
tooked with merry upon a sinner

How often, in this busy, mod-
ern world of ours, do we "cait upon
the Lord"? Do we offer to God
nothing more than an hour or
two each Sunday? Do we turn to
God for guidance, in famity af-
fairs, in business dealings, in
charting some course that affects
the tives of ourselves and those
around us? Do we cati upon God
onty when we are in the depths
of despair?
We should not wait unti] ship-

makes it a futt-time job.

npHE other day 1 looked out the
1 door of my room and saw a
very littie boy climbing the steps
and coming to the door. He tried
to tell me something, but he was
such a littie boy that I could not
understand and ha turned and
went down the steps. He was
piaying with a neighbor's children
JUST A THOUGHT:

which we live.
and my sister teamed from the
neighbor that the wee fellow is
three years oid and that he iives
up the avenue.
No wonder I think he is such a
littte boy. And from the vantage
of my years, 1 can but think of
how far the littie boy has to go.
In a few years, perhaps, freckies
will come upon his face and some
persons wiil teil him that iittie
girts are made of sugar and spice
and everything that's nice but that
littte boys are made of rats and
snaits and puppy dog taiis. And
you can imagine how fine that
wiit not make him feet.
And I coutd imagine aii the way
of tife before him. He is such a
littte boy and 1 coutd not under
stand what he was trying to tett
me. And 1 shaii always wonder.
Such a iittte boy! Who woutd
put a stumbting biock in his way?
Can we, ail of us, make a better
worid for his Tomorrow?

ARE YOU SURE?
Woutd you like to have the
knowiedge, the assurance and the
joy of sins forgiven? Would you
like to be sure of heaven?
Weti, the first step to heaven is
to realize that you cannot get
there by trying. You can't walk
there. You can't ctimb there.
Oniy God can take you there.
Many try to earn heaven. They
try to climb there on a tadder of
good works. They talk about
"adding another rung." But look
out for that 8°<x' works taddert
It's not anchored at the top and
the higher you ctimb the farther
you will fall.
God's Word says that salvation
is "the gift of God, not of works
lest any man should boast"
(Eph. 2: 8, 9). He is not going
to have boasters in heaven—
there are enough of them on
earth and nobody tikes them'.
A11 of us should realize that
even the best are not good enough
for heaven, for "all have sinned
and come short of the gtory of
God" (Rom. 3: 23), but in this
same statement the Apostte Paul
declares that believers in Christ,
who died for our sins, are "justi-
fied freely by His grace, through
the redemption that is in Christ
Jesus" (Rom. 5: 1).
So, friend, it is not by trying,
or crying, or praying, or paying,
or doing anything that you witl
reach heaven—it is oniy by be-
lieving. God says He loves sin-
ners, and that Christ died for
our sins. Will you believe this
and trust Christ as your own Sa-
vior?
"For the Father loveth tiie Son
and hath given all things into His
hands. He that bcLieveth cn the
Son hath evertasting iife, and he
that believeth not the Son shall
not see life, but the wrath of God
abideth on him" (Jn. 3: 35, 36).
