Bastrop County
Loyalty Day
Tiastrop county is to hold a
Loyalty Day in tho near future.
Pi ans were worked out last Mon-
day afternoon, when a large dele-
gation of loyal citizo"s mef in
the opera house. It was definite-
ly decided to make it a day for
all the loyal citizenship of Hastrop
county, and a special appeal is
made to the people who live in
the small towns and in the coun-
try to participate. It was point
ed out that the larger towns, at
1< ast most of them, hnd demon
strated their loyalty by setting,
aside a day for (lag raising and
parading, but that he small
towns and cojntry p! c -s had
not had an opportunity to show
their love for tho old (tag :ind
their country. Kvery parent in
the county and every teacher in
the rural schools shculd make an
earnest appeal to all hoys and
girls m each community to be
present on this occasion and thus
be inspired to higher ideals ot
citizenship by coming in coutact
with thegre.it wave of patriotism
that is now sweering over our
land. We as parents and teach-
ers should remember that there
has never come a time in the
history of this grand old repub-
lic than there was a more op; or
tune time to teach the principles
of loyalty to the "stars and
stripes.\ These patriotic dem-
onstrations will be the means of
more vividly impressing our boys
and girls thar. all the ab«tract
teaching wo might give them in
n life time. Show your patriot
ism,"your love for their welfare
ami for the welfare of your land
by getting in this grand rally
and seeing that the other fellow
gets in. Remember that this
c<<..itry fs your country, and
this land is your land, and that it
is now "railing Jou to «h« \v t the
world your love and appn nation
for the service it has rendeied
in the past and will render1
you in the future il you will but
taud for the principles for .
.ax great country has alwa s
tood. Truly the poet has 1
"Your Il;i<,' unci my flag,
And oh, how much it holds;
Your land and my land,
Secure w thin its folds."
We need to fully catch the
sentiment of these beautiful
1 words of the writer, and to see
! that our boys and girls are im-
! bued with the spirit that is ex-
! pressed therein. Come to the
loy.nlt.v dn.y in Hastrop and catch
j some of that spirit.

There must be a good reason for this.
It is because alum was found to be un-
