DISTRICT COURT.
State vs. J. V. Dunbar, charged
with the murder of Joe McNeil a
negro, near Paige, in September
1908, tried before jury and ver-
dict of not guilty. The case
against Mr, Dunbar charged with
killing Mr. Dock McDavid at the
same time, was dismissed.
State vs. Uriah Foster, charged
with the murder of Henry Nash,
colored, was continued by agree
ment and set for July 7th of
next term.
State vs. Willie Smith, murder
continued
C-H.Ray vs. Western Union
Telegraph Co., damages. Dis
missed.
Julia James vs. M. K. & T.
Ry. Co. of Texas, damages. Con-
tinued and set for June 22nd.
Pen A. Hollas vs. Herman
Senff, partition. Dismissed by

office Tuesday last.
Pierce Wolfenbarger, of near
Red Rock, was among the arriv-
als in the city since last issue.
Mrs. W. H. Heydorf and child,
of Arkansas City, Kansas, are
guests of Mr. and Alf Schilling.
T. R. Mobley. the efficient jus-
tice of the Peace at Red Rock,
was in the county seat, Thurs-
day.
P. C. Maynard, after a pleas-
ant visit to home folks and
friends, returned to his home at
Dickcns.
W. H. Coulson, of the north-
ern portion of the county, was a
pleasant visitor at the Advertiser
office Saturday last.
City Marshal TJ. M. Carmi-
chael and Roy Jones were among
the visitors in Bastrop from
Smithville this week.
Mrs. A. L. Hills and little Miss
Bernice Hills, of Shreveport,
La., are guests of Mrs. Fannie
Cunningham and family.
Mr, and Mrs. Will H. Dec-hard,
of Au«tin, guests of Mayor and}
Mrs. J. N. Jenkins, have re-
turned to the Capital City.
Alf Jung, who has been em-
ployed on the Chancellor home
at Smithville, has completed his
work and returned to Bastrop.
Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Lacker and
two charming little daughters,
of Manor, were guests of Mr.
and Mrs. S. W. Wood Saturday
and Suuday last, bringing to Mr.
Wood a horse and buggy. They
returned home on the noon train
Sunday.

Mrs. W. E. Fowler and child,

City Marshal B. C. Clark will
leave the first of the week for
Corpus Christi, where he has
been summoned as a witness.
During Marshal Ciark's absence,
Mr. H. C. Jones, at the Peoples
Cash Gro. Co., will collect and
give receipts for city taxes.
Miss Janette Maynard left the
first of the week for Dickens,
where she will spend sometime
with her brother, P. C. May-
nard, Esq. who is practicing law
in that city. Mias Janette is
universally popular in Bastrop
and will be greatly missed in x.er
home town.
Mr. and Mrs. John Allen were
visitors in the city Friday.
