CONTRASTS.
When a man meets with reverse,
And has nothing in his pjrse,
And dresses in a worn and shab-
by suit,
All the friends he ever had
Say. "He's goinjr to the bad."
And they help him on his journey
With the boot!
But should fortune light his track,
They will pat him on his back;
Every evidence of love for him
they show,
And would tell him that they bet
He would win the battle yet,
For its policy to do it,
Don't you know ?

SNAP SHOTS.
When a woman puts on a
short skirt it is a sigu that she
is wearing new shoes or little
ones.
The reason a woman doesn't
like for her husband to read
while she is talking to him is
because he doesn't like for her
to talk to him while he is read-
ing.
Liquor is costly, but any man
with a very little money can very
soon drink himself to death.
A healthy boy never quits
eating because be has enough,
but because be has exhausted
the available filler.
The Scriptural patriarchs
miy have been a slow and dull
lot, but they were too smart to
wear pants in hot weather.
If we could all make money
as easily as we could enjoy if,
poverty would be a distinction.
Sometimes when truth is
crushed to earth it rises with its

Do not give a man dirt, un-
less be hasn't any saud in his
craw.
The idea that automobiling
is distracting men from murri-
age may or may not be true;
but it ig certainly making some
of them too poor to support a

WHERE HAPPINESS
IS TO BE FOUND.
The happiest mau in the land
to-day is the successful farmer.
He sits under his own vine and
fig tree, undisturbed by the mad
denning noise of the great city.
Banks fail, railroads go into the
hands of receivers, booming
towns collapse, all business stag-
nates. But the wise farmer can
snap bis finger at these thing®.
He is the monarch of all be
surveys on his broad acres, And
the honesty of his boys and the
purity of his girls are guarded
against temptation, and in them
he is giving the country its best
manhood and womanhood. The
farmer is to be envied, and if ho
is not contented with his lot he
is lacking iu wisdom.—Long-
view Times-Clarion.

OUR BIG SPECIAL
On Genuine Onyx Triple Coated
EN AMEL W ARE
Scbuleuburger Sticker. — We
have noticed several bales of
cotton at the compress this sea-
son wrapped in bagging made
of cotton. Why not n«e the
cotton bagging altogether? This
would create another use for
the product. Farmers, use more
cotton rope and bagging and
quit contributing to the jute
trust and grass rope combina-
tions.
The Oaveston News in copy-
ing the above, very appropri-
ately adds the following, both
of which should be carefully,
yea thoughtfully, read by far-
mers generally, and generally
profited by adoption and piac-
tice.
A« the News says:
"In addition to gaining a rep-
utation for producing the poor-
est wrapped cotton in the world,
the farmers have also aided to
no small extent in furthering
the interests of the Jute trust.
However, the movement look-
ing to the universal adoption of
the cotton bagging is gaining
rapidly aud may soon replace
the old style system entirely.
Cotton-wrapped bales are re-
ported from everv section of
the state where the market has
opened.'
