I've been so busy here of late
With business in a tangled state
Particulars I wont relate
+ your annoyance
But give you once again a sheet
With nonsense as of old complete
To let you know I don't forget
I was a boy once
I get your last without delay
And thought to answer it many a day
Ago. but either work or play
Has yet prevented
And now while Adeline is washing
Her feet, the baby lying, tossing,
The thoughts that over my brains are crossing
Are represented
I believe we had no question up
Save one we live of Wm Pope
Our differnece on which I hope
Makes little matter
Truth crushed to earth will rise again
So if Pope lied, he lied in vain
And had alas for every gain
So let it clatter

Last news from Uncle Add he had been fighting some secessionists in Georgia
and they were talking of hanging him under judge Lynches sentence, which
however they
to mother
had not don to latest date. He thinks "Georgia has clay bull" so he writes
in seceding from the stars + stripes. He is politically wild again and
will
remain so his
life I fear
He cannot bear
prosperity, Advisity
engages his minds
faculties + keeps him
same - so that he
lets political matters
rest till he gets
a start in the world
and then he pitches
in to the vain work
of reforming
the world
socially +
