Revamped church page features 127
places to worship in Cherokee County
In the Aug. 3 issue of the
Cherokeean Herald, read-
ers will notice two changes
and improvements to the
church page and the clas-
sified page.
On page 5A, the church
page listings have been
revamped.
"We added a number of
churches and deleted some
that we think are no longer
in existence," said Tome
Gonzalez, editor. "Cur-
rently there are a total of
127 churches listed. We
standardized the listings to
include the church's name,
address and phone number
in the free listings."
Churches which wish to
include service times, pas-
tors' names and additional
details may wish to be listed
in a display ad for just $5
per week.
Many of the entries were
re-typed, and the Chero-
keean Herald used three
different sources for ad-
dresses and telephone
numbers.
"We invite representa-
tives with each of the
churches to review their
hstings and to contact our
office if any of the informa-
tion needs to be modified,"
said Mrs. Gonzalez.
Also in the Aug. 3 issue,
the elassi lied ad pages will
take on a bolder look. The
first two words of each ad
are in a bold, black font
that is designed to call
the reader's attention to
the ad.
"We also have bold head-
ers to divide the differ-
ent categories," said Mrs.
Gonzalez. "We hope these
updates will be reader-
friendly."

The pre-school uses a Texas state

to obtain their state certification this

nation, students using this curriculum
score an average of two grade levels
higher than their actual grade, on
standardized tests," said Pastor Debra
McCormick, PhD.
The academy expanded this year
into two, newly renovated classrooms.
Also new is the food program which
will serve breakfast, lunch and an
afternoon snack to students enrolled
in the pre-school.
School age students may purchase
meals from the academy's, Sonrise
Cafe, operated by Jami Trawick.
Last year's academy students had
an academic average of 95 percent
and were recognized by President
Obama with certificates.
In addition to academics, students
enjoy the outdoor playground, which
lcludes a swimming pool. During
inclement weather they roller skate or
ride bikes in the indoor playground.
