Cigarette.
This amazing growth, representing
a gain of 300 per cent signalizes not
only the universal preference for the
cigarette as the smokers' choice, but
the acceptance of this one particular
brand as the popular favorite.
It is conservatively estimated that
Chesterfield has acquired at least a
million new users in a little over a
year - certainly convincing proor
that finer quality and better taste'
is substantially recognized by the ci-'
garette smoking public.
'inis genuine testimonial for good
tobaccos and good blending is based
largely on Chesterfield's particularl.
pleasing flavor and taste. As it is
stated in the advertisements, Cheste.
xields are "mild and yet they satisfy'
in other words, the flavor has been S3
skillfully balanced as to eliminate an.
suggestion of harshness or bite, an.
yet leave enough richness and body \
"let a smoker know he's smoking'
Nor is Chesterfield's rapid growtl
limited to the boundaries of the Uni
ed States. Sales reports have revealed
that this brand is world-wide in it.
acceptance, as shown by the fa:t tha
in practically all the principal clti .
of the world it is found to be among
the leading sellers.
In fact, Chesterfield's world-wide re
cognition has given rise to another
new advertising slogan which truth-
fully asserts that "the sun never set?
on Chesterfield's popularity"- with
the added distinction that "Such pop-
ularity must be deserved" because
of a taste and quality whicii v.u--
smokers the world over and will cor.
tinue to win them bccau e it is wha.
tney want.
In current • advertising, Liggett &
Myers is making strong u e of th
ott-repeatcd ' platform", in whi .
they declare over their si rnatun
that it is their honest belief "that the
tobaccos used in Chesterfield ui
ttes are of the finer quality and
nonce of better taste than in a
her cigarette at the price.'

IT TAKES SO LITTLE
ME AND MY DAD
My dad, he's sure a regular guy;
Me likes good times, an' so do J.
He chucks a ball, an' shoots a gun,
An' gee! but how my dad can run!
He out swims any av'rage boy,
An' fishin' is his pride an' joy—
(Though he says that his joy is me,
'Cause me an' Dad are pais, you si- • )
An' when the world gets goin' wronrv,
My Dad jes' smiles, an' sings a son;.-,
An' whistles, like the birds in June,
Some old outlandish funny tune
An' says it ain't no use to pout—
Jes' grit your teeth, and think about
How happy a guy you still should be
With all your friends an' family.
Yes, fellers, Dad's a reg'lar chum,
To beat him, you'd be goin' some!
An' when I'm big, an' wear long pants
You"] bet I'llgive my boy a chance
To laugh an' play, because, you see,
We'll both be pals. Like Dad an' me.

It takes so little to make us sad,
Just a slighting word, or a doubtin;;
sneer,
Just a scornful smile on some lips
held dear;
And our footsteps lag, though the
goal seems near,
And we lose the courage and hope
we had—
So little it takes to make us sad.
It takes so little to make us glad,
Just the cheering clasp of a friendly
hand,
Just a word from one who can under-

planned,
