LETTER OF TRANSMITTAL. U. S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, BUREAU OF SOILS, Washington, D. C., July 22, 1910. SIR: During the field season of 1909 the Bureau completed a soil survey of Grayson County, Tex. The selection of this area was strongly urged by citizens of the county both in communications from boards of trade and other commercial bodies and by petitions embracing several hundred names. These petitions bore the indorsement of Hon. C. B. Randell, Member of Congress representing the Fourth District of Texas, of'which Grayson County forms a part. I have the honor to transmit herewith the report and map covering this work and to recommend that they be published as advance sheets of Field Operations of the Bureau of Soils for 1909, as authorized by law. Very respectfully, MILTON WHITNEY, Chief of Bureau. Hon. JAMES WILSON, Secretary of Agriculture. 2
