South Texas' Head Start Program
full funding for FY 2005.
The $5,542,584 grant will help
provide quality comprehensive
early childhood services for
children and families in Starr, Jim
Hogg, Duval, and Zapata Counties.
Additional Fatherhood Initiative
£ (one-time) funding of $8,000 and
the National Head Start Latino
Initiative (one-time) funding of
$6,000 were also awarded. The
Head Start / Early Head Start
Program services 907 children of
0 ages 0 to 5 years within the four-
courity service area.

Valley married couples are invited
to experience a "Valentine's Get
Away" Marriage Encounter
' W.^kend which will be held the
weekend right before Valentine's
Day, from Friday evening, Feb. 11
to Sunday afternoon, Feb. 13 at the
San Juan Retreat House, on the
9 beautiful grounds of the Basilica of
the Our Lady of San Juan de Valle
National Shrine in San Juan.
Marriage Encounter is a unique
get-away which allows married
couples to spend a romantic,
enriching weekend together without
distractions such as housework,
chores, etc. The weekend is open to
all married couples in the Valley,
and includes two nights' stay as
well as breakfast, lunch and dinner.
