Two Lady Rattlers recently
made history in Rio Grande
City. Claudia Pena and Krystal
Montalvo became the first
wrestlers from Rio Grande City
High School to qualify for the
state wrestling championships,
held February 24-25, 2006 at the
Delco Activity Center in Austin.
Texas.
"Making history wasn't
enough for these two girls.
They wanted to prove that they
were among the best the state
has to offer" commented head
wrestling coach Ronald Pratt.
Both girls got off on the
wrong foot with a loss in their
first matches of the tournament
with Montalvo losing to Tiffany
Larriba of Southlake Carroll, the
eventual state runner-up. Pena
took on Courtney McGuire of
Health
(NU) - According to the
Massachusetts Medical Soci-
ety. the U.S. pharmaceutical in-
dustry is under mounting
scrutiny because of rapidly in-
creasing expenditures for med-
icines in the United States. Pre-
scription expenditures are now
the fastest-growing component
of health care costs. Now there
is a solution for millions of
Americans: Minit Drugs of
Canada can save consumers 50
percent or more on many of the
same medications purchased in
the United States. For more in-
formation, log on to www.

Langham Creek in the first
round and also lost. "We re-
grouped and focused for the
second round since neither one
wanted to go home without
tasting victory" continued coach
Pratt.
In the second round,
Montalvo met up with Juie
Smith of Cypress-Fairbanks and
recorded a pin early in the
second period. Pena met up
with Breanna McNeil of Frisco
Centennial and beat her 7-5 to
advance in the consolation
bracket.
The third round found
Montalvo taking on Emily
Martin of Frisco Centennial.
Montalvo was up early but
found her back exposed to the
mat and was pinned for her
second loss of the tournament,
thus eliminating her. Pena met
up with eventual fourth place
winner. Courtney Weisner of
Cypress-Fairbanks, a three-time
state qualifier. Weisner was
never able to get a good hold on
Pena to pin her but she beat her
solidly by a score of 14-3 to end
Pena's high school career.
Overall, the Lady Rattlers
finished with 6 team points and
placed 42nd in the state
tournament.
The coaching staff would like
to congratulate these young
ladies for all their hard work this
season.
The coaches for the wrestling
team this season are Ronald
Pratt, head coach, and Oscar
Ozuna, assistant coach.
