The Sonics finished as first place champions in the first annual Middle School
Spring Basketball League. Pictured left to right are Homerc Lopez, Caleb Luna, Hiram
Lopez and Kicky Benitez. Students from the sixth, seventh and eighth grades were
involved in the league in an exciting 15-game season. The Sonics were champions
with a 12-3 record.

the league. In an exciting 15-game
season, the first place champions
were the Sonics with a record of 12
wins and three losses.
Second place went to the Bulls
with a record of 11 wins and four
losses, and third place went to the
Dream Team with a record of 10
wins and five losses.
Congratulations are offered to the
winners and all the participants as
well as all the coaches who made
this league a huge success.
The most frequent foreign destination of American travelers is
Mexico, with more than 14 million visitors a year.
Perez completes Air
Force training
Air Force Airman 1st Class Luis
M. Perez has graduated from basic
military training at Lackland Air
Force Base in San Antonio.
During the six weeks of training,
ihe airman studied the Air Force
mission, organization, and customs
and received special training in
human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete
basic training earn credit toward an
associate degree through the
Community College of the Air
Force.
Perez is the son of Elvia Perez of
400 Haltiner, and stepson of
Gabriel Lopez of 212 W. Main,
both of Rio Grande City.
He is a 1993 graduate of Rio
Grande City High School.
Thirty-two Kio Grande City High School seniors students are eligible to receive a $5(10 Los
Nuestros Foundation Scholarship. They are: Maria Yesenia Moreno, Angel Santiago Flores,
