schools. A total of 37 J & O Hinojosa students participated at the meet.

Meet on Saturday, Feb. 15.
There were 37 J & O students
who participated at the meet and 20
of the students placed in the top six
in the different events. Their
accomplishment was highlighted by
the performance of the fifth graders.
The students won the fifth grade
division among the ?6 participating
schools.

The 15th annual Fair Cookoff is
scheduled for Sunday, March 9 at
the Starr County Fairgrounds.
There will be trophy prizes for
the grand and reserve champions.
The categories have been extended
this year to includc chili con carne,
fajitas, frijoles a la charra, pan de
campo, and an Open Division
(items included but not limited to
chicken, brisket, venison, turkey,
etc.).
Entries will be judged on taste,
texture and appearance. The cookoff
is scheduled for Sunday, March 9
and will begin at 9 a.m. that day,
and 9 a.m. will also be the
registration deadline. Judging will
begin at 1 p.m. and the entry fee is
S30 per entry.
A team can represent a company,
business or club. The event is
sponsored by Ramirez Ford Sales,
Inc.
All entries must be cooked from
scratch on site the day of the
cookoff. "Scratch" is defined as
starting with raw meat. All meats
will be inspected before cooking.
All entries must be prepared on
the premises out in the open (no
cooking inside motor homes, etc.).
Participants will furnish their own
utensils, pit, firewood, supplies,
etc.
Registration deadline is 9 a.m.
the day of the cookoff. Theie will
be a fee of $30 per entry. There will
be no more than five members per
team. The set up time for "camp
cooking site" starts at 9 a.m. This
is on a first come, first serve basis.
Cooking may begin at 9 a.m. and
judging begins at 1 p.m.
