Grulla Jr. Hign began a
students-at-risk program this year as
a deterrent for drop-outs.
No doubt, this program has
proved to be successful. The
program serves as an incentive for
students to try their best in
academics as well as in helping to
shape their behavior.
The principal, Mr. Medardo
Banda, and all of the staff at Grulla
Jr. High work together to help this
program. Students' grades are
checked and their behavior is
monitored periodically by the staff.
The boys, which the team
consists of only, chose the team
name "Bad Boys." Uniforms were
bought for the team through funds
collected from sports events in
which these boys participated.
The students in this program
have been involved in two sports.
A basketball team was formed and
this team competed against the
"Eagles," another at-risk boys'
program from Ringgold Jr. High.
The "Bad Boys" also played
against the Grulla 7th^and 8th grade
basketball team and against The
staff.
Currently, the "Bad Boys" have a
Softball team. The team has already
played against the staff and against
the "Eagles" of Ringgold Jr. High.
This team, the "Bad Boys," has
already developed some character
and the students have displayed a
very positive attitude and good
sportsmanship.
There has also been a good
relationship established between our
boys and the team from Ringgold
Jr. High. This atmosphere and
