Visiting RGC Thursday
State Comptroller Bob Bullock
said Thursday that a repre-
sentative from his agency will be in
Rio Grande City on Thursday, Nov.
17 to answer questions about Texas
taxes and assist taxpayers with
paperwork and problems.
"I don't want to see state taxes
turn into a burden for folks who
can't get to a field office. Our visits
are a service we're happy to
provide to Texas taxpayers."
Juan Antonio Perez, enforcement
officer of the McAllen Field Service
office, will be at the Starr County
Courthouse from 9 a.m. to noon
Thursday. The public is welcome
and there is no charge.

The Rio Grande City High School
Student Council,in cooperation with
United Blood Services, conducted a
blood drive on Monday, November
14, 1988 at the Rio Grande City
High School Library
The drive was conducted to
benefit Joseph Lopez, a senior at
San Isidro High School who was
diagnosed as having leukemia
earlier this year.
Inspired by the theme "You Can
Make The Difference," everyone
gave of themselves in order to
make that difference in another
individual's life.
A Student Council spokesman
said, "In sincere appreciation, we
would like to thank United Blood
Services, and all the students and
staff who participatead in the
drive. Thanks to all of you, a
difference has been made!

Guerra Promoted To
CPL Systems Manager
Arnaldo Guerra, Central Power
and Light Company's supervisor of
design and standards in the home
office, has been promoted to
manager of electric systems for
CPL's Southern Region. The pro-
motion becomes effective Nov. 12.
He will be responsible for con-
struction, operations and mainte-
nance of electric facilities in the
Rio Grande Valley. Guerra re-
places Gonzalo Sandoval who was
promoted to Southern Region gen-
eral manager.
Guerra begin his career with
CPL in 1968 as an electrical
engineer in charge of protective
relaying. He was promoted to
engineer III in 1980 and named
manager of electric system pro-
tection in 1984. He was named
supervisor of design and standards
earlier this year.
A graduate of Texas A&M,
Guerra holds a B.S. degree in
electrical engineering. He is active
