Six 4-H'ers from Starr County
will be taking part in the 1987 State
4 11 Kounriup, June 9-10, at Texas
A&M University.
The county's 4-H members will
be among some 1000 from across
Texas taking part in a host of
activities.
Ysa Gonzalez and Linda Guerra
will participate in Horticulture
Preparation, and Jesse Guerra and
Ricky Lopez in Community Devel-
opment Willie Gonzalez and
Cilfredo Rodriguez will compete in
the Open Class and Lori Peterson
in Public Speaking. On the first
day, activities begin with the State
4-H Food Show at 8 a.m.
An opening assembly that eve-
ning will feature entertainment by
a country and western group from
Nashville, Tennessee called The
Shoppe. In addition, more than 100
outstanding 4 H members will
receive scholarships through the
Texas 4-H foundation that total
almost $650,000
Also, special awards will be
presented to longtime supporters of
the 4-H program.
Contests in 39 different
categories will kick off the second
day of the Roundup. Competitive
events will continue through the
day, and winners will be re-
cognized at a special awards
program that evening.
A luncheon on Wednesday, June
10 will recognized 28 outstanding
4-H adult volunteer leaders from
across the state who will receive
special plaques from the Texas 4-H
Foundation.
4-H'ers competing in the State

Camp time is here once again tor
Boy Scout Troop 93 of Rio Grande
City.
This week members of troop 93
are packing and making plans for
their week of camping during the
week of June 7 to June 13 at camp
Perry located near Rio Hondo,
Texas.
Those boys going to camp Perry
will leave Rio Grande City along
with their scoutmaster at 10 O'clock
on Sunday morning, June 7. and
will return to Rio Grande City
about 12 noon of Saturday. June 13.
While at camp Perry the boys
participate in swimming, archery,
rifle shooting, obstacle courses,
boating and canoeing, black
powder shooting, skit night, medit
badge courses and other scout
crafts and skills.
Parents and friends are invited
to visit troop 93 on v isitor's day at
camp on Friday, June 12. from 5
P.M. until the order of the arrow
tapout is over about 10 P.M
Scoutmasters Gebhart and
Gonzalez will attend camp Perry
with the boys.

completed a U.S. Army basic
noncommissioned officer course
Soldiers developed mid level
management skills to be used in
supervision and training small
groups of soldiers in combat
specialties
Barrera is a telephone system
installer with the 29th Signal
Brigade at Fort Gordon, Ga.

divirtiendome y sboreando mi Ubertad.
Lo ultimo que recuerdo es haber rebasado a un anciano que
Iconducia muy despacio, escuche un ensordecedor estallido y senti un|
sacudimento espantoso
Vidrios y aceros volaron por donde quiera, parecia que mi cuerpo
entero se volteaba al reves, escuche gritar desaforaridamente. De
repente todo estaba muy quieto. un agente de policia estaba cerca de
mi luego device un doctor, mi cuerpo estaba hecho pedazos
saturado de sangre, trozos de vidrio salian por todas partes. Que raro
que no sintiera nada.

Isolo tengo 15 anos ademas tengo una cita esta noche Se supone que

E! funeral fue una experencia macabre, Vi a todos mis familiares

M;s abuelitos estan tan emocionados que apenas pueden caminar, mis
hermanos estan como sonambulos, se mueven como robots.
Todos estan tan ofuscados, nadie puede creer esto y yo tampoco
