■ Once again we found our way to that spot
irt the central part of our siale that is so
special to our family, the hill country of
Texas with its spring-fed Frio River. While
floating down the river, we found several of
' those "1100" springs, very chilly spots that
are constantly feeding the river and
sustaining it. Another thing that has
sustained this area and kept it special is the
caring people that have tried to keep it
upspoiied and clean. Of course, there are
those that don't, but this sends Mother
Nature into a frenzy of "housecleaning",
and she sends flood waters to sweep and
mop the entire area occasionally, like when
she did her 1981 Spring cleanin.t,'. To many
people this is a special place, ard anything
that is special must be taken care of. It
makes me proud that our children are able
to enjoy it as much as we did when we were
their age, and hopefully it will be cared for
so that theirs will enjoy it too. To take care
means to be full of care, or careful, as Hillis
was thinking when he wrote, "Be Cautious".
"Springg ' are. little things, but they are
sources of large streams; a helm is a little
thing, but we know its use and power; nails
and pegs are little things, but they hold the
parts of a large building together; a word, a
look, a smile, a frown, are all little things,
but powerful for good or evil. Think of this,
and mind the little things." Let us take care
of, be cautious with, this beautiful world
God made so that those who come along in
days and years to come may enjoy it too. many more years to come.
Mrs. Elma G. Cano of Rio Grande City

grandson at St. Peters the Apostle Catholic
Church in Ft. Worth. She enjoyed a visit
with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Raul
V. Cano, daughter Marissa Yvonne, 5, and
infant son, Raul V. Cano, Jr. While there she
paid a visit to Carswell AFB Open House
watched the Thunderbirds take off.
Mr. and Mrs. Jose Tijerina and family of
Rio Grande City and Mr. and Mrs. Pedro
Castillo and family of La Grulla have
returned to their home in Starr County
after a very enjoyable trip West. The
Texans enjoyed a visit to Disneyland and to
Universal Studios and several other places
in California. Then they spent a couple of
days in Las Vegas before heading home.
Sgt. and Mrs. H.R. Baxter III enjoyed a
two weeks visit in Starr County with parents
and relatives here. Baxter is a 1975
