County Beauties
Vie For Fair
Queen Title

Nineteen young ladies from throughout
the county will be competing for the title of
Youth Fair Queen this year. The winner
will reign over the 1981 Starr County Youth
Fair.
The annual contest is sponsored by the
Florence J. Scott Study Club, in cooperation
with the Starr County 4-H Adult Leaders and
Parents' Club.
This year's entries for the sixth annual
contest are:
Delma Garcia, the 14 year-old daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Adolfo Garcia of San Isidro.
She is a sophomore at San Isidro High
School and is sponsored by the San Isidro
FFA;
Liliana Guerra, the 16 year-old daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. H.P. Guerra of Rio Grande
City. She is a sophomore at Rio Grande City
High School and is sponsored by the Science
Club;
Mary Ramos, who is sponsored by the
Ramos Food Center of San Isidro is a 17
year old junior at San Isidro High School.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roberto
Ramos;
Maria Elena Laurel, the 16 year old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ismael Laurel of
San Isidro. She is a sophomore at San Isidro
High School and is sponsored by the
sophomore class;
Melissa Ann Ramirez, the 15 year old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rolando Ramirez

Annabel Gonzalez, the 18 year-old

of Roma. She is a senior at Roma High

Future Farmers of America.
The new queen will be selected March 1 in
the Auditorium at Ft. Ringgold. The
program is to start at 7 p.m.
Rehearsals for the contest will take place
Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Rio Grande
City High School Auditorium.
All contestants will participate in the Fair
Parade March 7.
