Linda G. Morales and Dr.
Charles Ike Austin were
united in marriage in a
double ring candlelight
ceremony Saturday af-
ternoon at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in down-
town San Antonio. The Rev.
George Boynes officiated.
The bride is the daughter
of Mrs. Esther G. Morales of
San Antonio, and the
bridegroom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Steven F. Austin of
Mission.
Margarita G. Morales of
San Antonio was maid of
honor, and Mr. and Mrs.
Steven F. Austin of Mission
were best man and matron
of honor.
A reception and dance
were held at El Tropicana
St. John Church Ladies
Attend Meeting In Mission
Ladies from the First
United Methodist Church of
Mission invited ladies from
the St. John United
Methodist Church to their
Christmas meeting on
December 13.

Lubbock, the Dallas-Fort
Worth metroplex, San

Joathan M. Hole, Texas
director of the White House
conference, said discussions
will center around six
themes. These are family
strengths and supports,
diversity of families, the
changing realities of family
life, the impact of public and
private institutional policies
on families, the impact of
discrimination, and families
with special needs.
Between now and March 1,
Hole said, Texas families
are encouraged to write to
the governor about their
ideas and suggestions on
conference topics. Letters
should be addressed to the
White House Conference on
Families, Office of the
Governor, State Capitol,
Austin, Texas 78711.

Council State project is to
help the students better
understand the effects mat
alcohol has on a person.
The Student Council held
its first SMILE Film
Festival December 17 at 7:00
p.m. at the Recreation Hall
in Falcon Heights. A second
film and discussion will deal
with Alcoholism, its effects,
its causes, its dangers, its
symptoms, and our concern.

Mrs. Ruth Langston,
president of the UMW at the
Mission church, presided
over the meeting. Mrs.
Wilma LaGrange provided
the program, telling
everyone about St. John's
Cnurch and later told a very
touching story about Bar-
nabas the Juggler and how
he gave his talent for
jugggling to celebrate the
birth of Christ.
Hilton Continental Ballroom
that evening. Dinner was
served from 6 to 8 p.m. The
wedding cake was a five-
tiered confection, and the
bridegroom's cake was
chocolate. A champagne
fountain was also featured.
Mariachis provided the
music along with classical
guitar played by special
guest Pilar Castaned;. of San
Antonio. Robert Austin,
brother of the groom, played
the guitar and sang a special
song in honor of the bride
and groom.
A dance followed with
"What's a Rose," the
Ramiro Cervera Orchestra.
There the couple lit the
candles symbolizing the two
families, Morales and
Austin, joining together
while the band played "You
Light Up My Life."
After a wedding trip to
Europe, the couple will
reside in Amarillo, Texas.
