had already started? Don't you
remember that many teachers
had to teach elsewhere because
they would not kowtow to the
political tyrants?
Don't you remember when all
these school personnel were
merely a bunch of bodies with a
vote-bodies that were coerced
to go to the polls like sheep
being led to slaughter? IS THIS
WHAT YOU WANT? DO YOU
WANT HISTORY TO REPEAT
ITSELF'' IX) YOU WANT TO
BE A SHEEP AGAIN'.'
Non-professionals, you are
not SECOND-CLASS
CITIZENS! You are just as free
an American as the three
members of the board who
voted against you. But you had
to fight to become free and you
have to fight again to keep vour
freedom. Nobody is going to
give you that freedom-you
have to give it to yourself.
The answer is very simple. If
you want to remain free, vote
for the Independent candidates
in the school election of April
and ELI AS AGUILAR. Both of
5th RAUL GUERRERO and
ELIAS AGUILAR. Both of them
are persons who have fought for
you and will keep on fighting for
you until the battle is com-
pletely won!
School Board Meeting March 18
An Epidemic
What is an epidemic? An
epidemic is a sickness that
afflicts a number of people. But
what is a school board
epidemic? Well, that is an
epidemic that hits a majority
of the board of trustees. And
that is what was supposed to
have happened Tuesday when
three New Party members,
Charles LaGrange, Javier
Margo and Roberto Margo
failed to show up, along with
Arnoldo Gonzalez, who had
been previously elected by the
United Groups a few years ago.
Our three good, healthy
members of the board-John
Pope III, Raul Guerrero and
Dr. Ramiro Narro showed up to
meet with an audience of over a
hundred school teachers and
employees-but to no avail.
Neither one of the four "sick"
ones showed up to make a
quorum.
We are not surprised at the
tactics used by the opposition at
pre-election time. We are used
to it But we strongly deplore
the attitude of one member in
particular-Arnoldo Gonzalez—
who was strongly supported in
his bid for re-election a few-
years ago by the same per-
sonnel who he is now apparently

abandoning to the whims of the
opposition.
Gonzalez„you remember, was
the New Party board member
who was accused of being
disrespectful and insulting to
our former superintendent S.P.
Cowan a few years ago, when
he, among other things, told
him "You are the employee
and we are the employer."
Now, it seems, Gonzalez is
singing off-key again, only now
by his absence is hurting the
faithful and hard-working
personnel of our school district
whose contracts are up for
renewal. The fact that he did
not show up means, for all
practical purposes, that he has
switched sides again and has
joined the "courthouse" bunch
who wants to put their hands on
the school again.
Do you remember the dark
days of the past when the
courthouse bunch used to
dominate the schools'' Do you
remember the tactics of fear
and oppression that were used
against the school personnel to
keep them in line? Do you
remember how many of our
school lands disappeared
overnight without public notices
or public bidding? Do you
remember that our school
district was deep in the red
when these people were in
power' It's all in the record.
People of our school district-
wake up! Do not let the cour-
thouse bunch ever again take
over our schools. This election
