nounced present.
The Invocation was offered by
the Reverend Charles A. Sumners,
Rector, Saint David's Church, Austin,
Texas, as follows:
"Almighty God. our Heavenly
Father, Thou art Thyself present in
this Legislative Hall as we pause
to remember that we are with Thee.
Accept our thanksgivings for the
privilege of being here in freedom,
with the opportunity of working in
freedom. Let not the earthly in-
fluences of evil and selfishness mar
the richness of freedom Thou dost
provide.
Do Thou pour forth Thy benedic-
tions upon these Thy sons and
daughters as they accept their privi-
lege and responsibility of laboring
in behalf of others of Thy children in
this State and Nation.
Endow them with understanding,
integrity and wisdom that they may
fulfill their tasks with honor. Enablethem to seek from Thee the power
to fulfill their obligations.
Pardon and forgive any failure on
the part of any of us to serve Thee
as we serve others. Give us a sense
of joy as we acknowledge Thee in
our work and in our lives. We ask
these blessings in the Name of Him
who came to us that we might abide
in Thee. Amen."
