REMARKS BY THE HONORABLEHonorable W. S. (Bill) Heatly were
ordered printed in the Journal:
Mr. Speaker, Members of the
House:
I want to take this opportunity to
express my appreciation to the Travis
County Delegation for their coopera-
tion in this matter of employees' pay-
raise that has been so highly pub-
licized the last seven days. It was a
pleasure to work with them, and at
all times that they deliberated about
the amendment to the resolution, not
only myself, but many members of
the Appropriations Committee were
advised of their thinking and contem-
plated action. I appreciate this co-
operation and so does the entire Ap-
propriations Committee. In view of
this fine work that Mr. Cavness, Mr.
Armstrong, Mr. Cain and Mr. Fore-
man did, they removed an element of
surprise not only to the Appropria-
tions Committee, but to the entire
House, which enabled us to handle the
pay raise in accordance with their
wishes. My Committee joins me in
commending them, and I would ask
the entire House to join me in
applauding their most cooperative ef-
forts.
