Membership enrollment in CTSA for 1947-48 has exceeded 5.000, the best
enrollment record in the history of the Association. Superintendents, principals,
Jeanes Supervisors, and teachers have been zealous in their efforts to promote pro-
fessional growth in Texas.
Twenty percent of our teachers in Texas are still slow to catch the progres-
siveness that is being evidenced in education throughout the nation. The problems
that are to be solved by teachers call for united effort through a well organized
group. Such a group is the State Association of Texas.
The record-breaking enrollment for 1947-48 is indeed encouraging but we
must not cease our efforts until we have everv teacher, principal, supervisor, etc.
enrolled in the association.
CONVENTION
The Annual Convention at San Antonio received high commendations from
the teachers in attendance. Many of the delegates expressed the belief that the
Sectional Meetings were better organized and attended than during some previous
years. The teachers praised the time of meeting for the sectional groups. Tt is
hoped that next year our program will continue to develop sectional groups that
are profitable to teachers and others attending the meeting.
The afternoon and evening sessions were especially interesting and profitable
to all who attended the San Antonio Convention. Both Thursdav and Fridav
afternoons and evenings' meetings were highlighted by outstanding and interesting
speakers. Dr. Reid's address on Thursday evening was one of the main features
of the Convention.
The San Antonio Teachers Council is highlv commended for the very ex-
cellent entertainment afforded the visiting teachers during the Convention.
NOTICE!
To the Teachers and principals:
This, our state publication, needs not only your support in spirit and
contribution of information, but it needs advertising to further our cause.
There should be in reach of most of our teachers someone who believes in
us, who will buy advertising in our magazine. Won't you make an effort
to solicit as much as you can at odd times, and notify Mrs. Hazel Peace,
Secretary-Treasurer.
