The address was an exhaust-

brief review of the workings of
the*local organization and rec-

bors. In speaking of those
who have proceeded be said:

Wheu we come to review the
work of the society during the
past year we find that this has
been one of the most important
periods in the history of the
sociey. * * *
The prevailing epidemic of
cholera that is scourging the
land of the old World, is
threateuing our borders, at
every port. The question
of national quarritine to
gaurd the safety of our com
monweaith against the inva
sion of tbe dreaded plague, is
agitating the minds of botb
physician and people.
The action that has already
*>een taken by the different so-
cieties of cur land, prompts us
to a sense of our duty, in
guarding the safety of our ben
eficiaries that we take action.
I therefore, recommend to
this society, that resolutions
be drafted, setting forth the ne
cessity and demands of our
peoplein a national quarantine
and forward them to our con-
gressman, urging his support
in effecting such an end."
The address was highly en-
