The picnic and barbecue at
Fitxhngh'a mill July 4, was
attended by a large concourse
of people. It is said there
were more than two thousand
persons present. The heavy
rain, which, by the way. was
badly needed, interrupted the
day's enjoyment. Political
speakers were on hand, and
would no doubt have spoken in
the afternoon if the picnic had
not been broken up by the
rain. Gov. Throckmorton and
Judge Wolfe made short
speeches in the morning. There
seemed to be a general feeling
of good-uature, notwithstand-
ing a few "scaps" which took
place, and those who didu't
get wet say they had a boss
time. The good people of that
community have the gratitude
of the people for their unstint-
ed hospitality and great efforts
toward making the occasion a
succcss.
