in the case of Simon ingrain, colored,
chnrged with criminally assaulting a lady,
at 3 p. ui. Friday returned the following
vcrdlct: "Wo. the Jury, find the defend-
ant guilty as charged in the Indictment
aud assess the penalty at death." The
prisoner did not seem to pay any attention
to the verdict and talkod to his lawyer as
if It had been a fine assessed against htm.
A motion for a new trial will be filed at
once.

boy, Kinanuel Hamilton, who was stabbed
