A Juror's Pie.
A rather amusing inoident
occurred in the uonnty court
one day this week. An old
gentl'Mftan, who was setting on
the jury, came in railier late
after dinner, when Judge Aber
nathy informed hint that a tin**
would be required of hint if he
remained iate again. The old
gentleman, thinking an expla-
nation was. necessary, pro-
ceeded to inform the judge that
he was permitted to eat pie for
dinner. The judge quickly
said:
"We don't care anything
about the pie. Sit down, or I
will havH to impose a fine on
you."
"But," responded the juror,
"it was good pie."
"1 don't care how good your
pie was," said the judge, "it
will get you into trouble if you
don't sit down and be quiet."
"Judge, you ought to have
some of ihai pie ; 1 tell you it
was good."
It took some time to con-
vince the old gentleman that
the judge was not pi(e)ous, but
he finally set down and the
court proceeded with bnsinefs.
