Warden was assaulted by
• male ''coon'' near the
calaboose, done while in
the aot of shoving him in.
With some risk of his life the
"coon" made good his escape.
Warden delivered several shots
at tht* fleeing prisoner, but with-

Mrs. J. S. Stovull, who has
been on a visit in southern
Texas for several weeks past,

Mr. James Graves a member
of the old commissioners court
informs us that the information
upon which we published a
statement in lust weeks paper
tliat some of the commissioners
had failed to inspect their roads
but had drawn pay for it, is not
correct. Our informant say he
only told us that the said com-
missioners did not tile any re-
port .He didn't say they did not
inspect the roads. We take
pleasure in making the neces-
sary correction.

An important meeting was
held on Monday evening in front
of Smith, Wiley & Johnson's
drug store. It was large and
respectable. Among the nota-
bles were M. W. Johnson, Bob

up and disposed of. No busi-
ness left unfinished.

Miss Mary Andrews's Concert
will occupy the last night. Site
has charge of the music depart-

George Scott was arrested in
Dallas and jailed here Monday
last by Deputy Sheriff Frank-
lin, on a requisition from Mis-
souri to answer a charge of em-
bezzlement.
