MISS ALICE F. HARPER.
Principal.
Houston. Texas, March 16, 1K98.
Mr. A. R. Moore.
State Agent Jewett Typewriter,
Houston, Texas.
Dear Sir:—Replying to your inquiry as to
what I think of the "Jewett" typewriter, it
would be somewhat difficult for me to express
all I think of this machine in the few words i
can write you at this time. It may not be just
the proper thing to preface my remarks by n
criticism, but really I think the machine was
mis-named. It should have been called ihu
"Jewel" instead. You will doubtless remem-
ber that when you drst broached the subject <>f
a "new machine" to me a year ago. I \v.«s not at
all cordial, in fact, I think I made it pretty
plain to you that I did not ear<- ti> make any
change in machines a* all, being s-tistied with
the ones I had. How over af er your agreeing to
let me take one of your machines with me on
my summer trip, in order that I mis''t test it
thoroughly, I concluded to do so, promising at
the time to iriv it the severest test possible, and
to find out its weak points, if it had any (I
really did not expe * *t the time to hav. it
dropped out of a lumber wa;;on on ti-e locks, as
was done while returning from a trip among
the mountains ) I will say that after all the
trials and tests thioimh which I have i>ut it, as
well as haviuir been in constant use in my
school for eight hours a day for nearlv a year
past, it has stood the test nobly, and I doubt if
another machine ean be foiin<l which will show
less wear, and do more beautiful work than my
"Jewett." We always keep it perfectly clean,
consequently it never "gets out of order," nor
gives the slightest trouble in any way. \\ i.-hine
your machine the success which it just merits,
I am Very trulv vours,
ALICE F. HARPER.
