prised Henry J. Adamek on his
birthday Tuesday; Missefc Ida
and Rosa Christ, Rosa and Annie
Doerrich, Agnes Meyer, Elsie
Dittrich, Minnie Nordhausen,
Adolph Christ, Alfred Dittrich,
Ferd. and Eddie Meyer, August
Klesel and Joe W. Meyer and
wife. The time was pleasantly
'spent in playing games.
Emil Hollas called on Vince
Hollas Sunday.
L. Dittrich entertained Thurs-
day night Eddie, Ferd. and Miss
Agnes Meyer and Eihil Sommer.
Saturday night guests of Ferd.

Eddie Seidenberger, Alfred Ditt-

December 4. Cold weather is
predicted in the near future. '

A crowd of young folks, consist-
ing of Mr. and the Misses Nier-
lich, Schwenke brothers, Charles
Kahlich, Alvin Schoppe, George
(iebert, Hattie and Albert Ehler,
Annie-and Emil Hagens and the
Richters. Dinner was served at
a late hour (it seemed like) and
the evening evas spent in stroll-
ing over the ancient brewery
and through the Indian caves,
and later in the evening the
crowd spun to LaGrange for
cold drinks and a spin over the
city. At night all took in 'the
dance at Swiss Alp.
Lee Brueggmann and Benno
Richter were in your city Friday.
ZFhere was a large attendance
at the services in the Methodist
church Sunday.
Herman Cordes, one of our
soldier boys, came home Satur-
day to spend Sunday with the
home folks.
Rud. Brueggmann and Miss
Ella Kretschmann, both well-
known young geople of pur com-
munity, were married at the
bride's home Wednesday. We
wish them much luck and happi-

were in Hallettsville a few days
back.
The bazaar at Oakland was well
attended and everybody enjoyed
it to the limit. Sam.

Ford car in San Antonio and
came this way over the proposed
Houston-San Antonio highway.
On reaching Engle their sup-
ply of gasoline had run low and
they undertook to trade tires or
inner tubes for gasoline. The
dealer's suspicions were aroused
and went out to get the number
of the car. The boys followed
him out and jumping into the
car came to Schulenburg. On
reaching the western suburbs
they abandoned the car and back
tracked it to the Haidusek past-
ure where they built a fire and
hung up for the night. Consta-
ble R. M. Stavinoha, whose home
is in Engle, gave the young
sters chase. On reaching Schu-
lenburg he about faced, catch-
ing a westbound Southern
Pacific freight and on nearing
the pasture, saw the camp-fire
and swung off. He arrested and
