Egg Contest is an Object Lesson
The Borden Mercantile and PrO|
duce Cotopany, a firm conducting a
country/ store a few miles east
of Wfilmar, has just closed an
eg|; contest, the result of which is
object lesson in what this pro-
uct means to the country and peo-
ple. The firm offered a series of
prizes for the largest number of
eggs brought to the store during
a period of eight tveeks. The win-
ner of the first prize was Miss Rosa
Ripper, who turned in 516 dozen;
second prize went to Rudolph
Muehr, who brought in 489 dozen;
third prize to Mrs. Frank Kroboth,
who brought in a total of 354 dozen
and the fourth prize to Mrs. Oscar
Kohleffel with 322 dozen, Many
others brought in amounts almost
equaling the last named prize win-
ner. At an average price of 25c
per dozen, the first prize winner
reived $129. Of this amount
she paid out $3 weekly for feed, a
total of $24. The egg industry is
a great thing for that section.
Many farmers pay every expense
from this source of income and still
have cash coming to them from the
storekeeper.—Exchange.
