THURSDAY, MAR. 3, 1910.
A "TENDERFEET
Editor Barry of the Colorado
Citizen, in summing up the
gubernatorial situation, pro-
claim s himself a "tenderfoot" in
Texas polities. Then he goes on
to say that he can not see why
the people of Texas let one per-
son, referring to Senator Bailey,
.dominate this big State. "And
especially do we think so when
that man, <3n the salary of $5000
a year, suddenly grew rich with-
in a few years, and whose ,-very
garments smell to the heavens
of coal oil."
We advise Mr. Barry to hunt
up Judge J.'.T. Mansefield and
have a straight, talk with him
on this question. Then we ad-
vise him to look up, from an un-
biased standpoint, the record of
Bailey and then the records of
the leaders of the anti-Bailey
gang.
Editor Barry says he has been
in our state only a month. Why
start so soon making such broad
assertions about one of the noble I
sons of the United States, one J
recognized by all the greatest
constitutional lawyer in the land?
The brainiest man in the Senate
chamber; one loved and respect-
ed by the best citizens of the
state; a loyal set of friends who
put everything else in the back
ground and stand ready to de-
fend him at all times against
such accusations you make with-
out the least foundation.
Wonder how Barry heard
about the "coal oil" smell? Prom
the Houston Chronicle? Or has
he found out that he will have to
help pay that $2,000,000 fine Da-
vidson collected from the W. P.
O. Co? No wonder he hates the
smell of coal oil. Before the
people get through paying this
fine, and it is a certainty
that they will have to pay
it, or quit using oil, they will also
hate the smell. We only wish the J
anti-Bailey people would have to
pay it all.
The prosecuting and collecting
the fine from the W. P. O. Co.,
in our mind,is the same as taxing
the consumers of oil that much
prorated. v
But we are getting off the sub-
ject. Let us tell you some of the
good things of our senator; our
Bailey. How nice to say good
things about any one.
He is the only Senator ever in-
vited by other state legislatures
to address the members on ques-
tions pending before them. Vir-
ginia and South Carolina has
done him this honor

the galleries overflowing. That's
why he dominates in the grand
State of Texas.
Oklahoma recognizes his abil-
ity as a constitutional lawyer
and has retained him to repre-
sent its cause in the guaranty
bank law test.
No wonder these sore headed,
"has beens" and "would bes"
rave and try to discredit him.
Mr.Bailey has passed unscatch-
ed through two searching inves-
tigations. Wh at more proof does
a new comer to our state want?
Why listen to the wrangling of
the anti-Bailey gang? Get the

you will smell with something
worse than "coal oil."
he makes a speech in the Senate j the record of some of the anti-
the Senators are all present and I Bailey leaders.
The Fl&tonia Argus is lamenting
upon the fact that no one in Pay-
ette county seems to desire to
"take the jobs away from our
present incumbents. Of course,
the more candidates, <the more
money for us newspaper men,
but the Sticker is satisfied with
the entire bunch of Payette coun-
ty officers. Search the State
over and you wont find a better
and more congenial and ac-
comodating set.
Don't forget March 10th.
