This group of U.S. Soldiers is part of the American Punitive Expedition or Mexican Expedition who were sent into Mexico to confront and/or capture Mexican Revolutionary Francisco "Pancho" Villa. The Punitive Expedition into Mexico was led by Brigadier General John J. Pershing. The Punitive Expedition into Mexico went on from March 14, 1916 to around February 7, 1917.
