Additional historical contextual notes: Major General Frederick Funston [November 9, 1865 – February 19, 1917] was also known as Fighting Fred Funston. General Funston was involved in the Bandit Wars along the U.S./Mexico border which sought out to quash Mexican Rebels who entered the U.S. and were attacking U.S. communities along the U.S. Mexico Border.
