Notes

Date of image based on construction of El Paso High School (at left), completed in 1916.

Additional context: A stunning view of downtown El Paso, Texas with a northeastern perspective. First building to the left is the Hotel McCoy which occupied the top floors of the White House Department Store. The White House and the Hotel McCoy were located at 127 Pioneer Plaza. The middle building is the Anson Mills Building. Above the Hotel McCoy and to the left of the Anson Building, and off to the distance, is El Paso High School still under construction. So this image was taken before 1916. The Hotel Sheldon can be seen on the bottom right corner of the image - location, N Oregon and Pioneer Plaza. Between the Mills building and Hotel Sheldon is San Jacinto Plaza. The building in the center of the picture and to the right of the Mills building is the Galveston, Harrisburg & San Antonio Railroad [G H & S A Ry] Superintendent's Office located at N Kansas and Main, ca 1915 El Paso City Directory. And overlooking all of these buildings are the Franklin Mountains.
