Obituaries from The Southwestern Advocate 1939
A. H. Keyser and Mrs. Henry Raesener of Fredericksburg; and Mrs. U. B. Dye of Castell; 2 step-
sons, Edward and Wesley Willenberg, and nine grandchildren.
Interment took place on September 26, 1939, at the Castell Cemetery. Services took place in the
Castell Methodist Church.
Mrs. J. T. McClure, wife of Dr. J. T. McClure, died on November 20, 1939. An invalid for 21
years, she is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. G. C. Hardin, Ft. Smith, and Miss
Ethel McClure, Ardmore, Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. F. R. Groover, Dallas; five brothers,
Charles and Joe Acker, Dialville, Texas; Jim Acker, Rusk, Texas; Ben Acker, Melrose, New
Mexico, and Ed Acker, Dallas.
Interment was in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Mr. R. V. Stearns, born December 1, 1886, in Harrison County, Iowa, died November 19, 1939,
in Mason, Texas.
Survivors include; his wife and five children of Mason, Texas; his parents Mr. and Mrs. E. D.
Stearns, a sister, Mrs. J. H. Hartsell, and a brother Rev M. C. Stearns, all of San Antonio.
Services were held in the Methodist Church of Mason.

Andrew Jackson Weeks, May 31, 1869 - December 12, 1939. 70 years of age.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mattie Payne of Ratliff; four children, Jack Weeks of
Dallas; Marvin W. Weeks, Vickery, Texas; Agnes Weeks of Richardson and Mrs. Forest E.
Dudley, of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; two grandsons, Marvin Newharris Weeks and Dudley Lee
Weeks; two brothers, John Wesley Weeks and Charles E. Weeks of Burke; and five sisters: Mrs.
Ben Ofitt and Mrs. Mae Drake of Burke; Mrs. Byron Dunlop of Onslaska, Polk County; Mrs.
George Dunlop of Quanah; and Mrs. John Scott of Milam, Sabine County.
Mrs. E. A. Drew, wife of Rev. E. A. Drew of Ladonia Methodist Church. She is survived by her
husband, and four children. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church of Ladonia,
Texas.
Barney Davis, 48, of Dallas died December 10, 1939. At the time of his death, he was
supervisor for the WPA writer's project.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, J. Barney Davis, Jr. and Stewart Davis of Dallas; two
daughters, Miss Alma Helen Davis, Dallas; Mrs. Ralph McDade Phillips, Hutchinson County; a
sister, Mrs. Helen Jones, Waco; and a brother, Clarence Davis, Corpus Christi.
G. S. Brown died at home, in Houston, on April 3, 1939. He was born in Cedar Bayou, Texas on
May 27, 1857. In 1881, he married Miss Mattie Davis. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie
Brown, three daughters, Miss Julia, Miss Frances, and Mrs. E. D. Butcher; three sons, T. E. and
W. G, seven grandchildren, and one sister, Ellen Turner, all of Houston.
The Memorial Service was held in the Milky Methodist Church.Th. .l ..o r 1. 21 92.
