A Glimpse into Dallas County Election - 1922
"If Jesus of Nazareth were on earth, he could
not be admitted to Ku Klux Klan, because he
was both foreign-born and a Jew.
Hopes Others Will Follow
"The purpose of our meeting is to call attention
to the fact that a man must not be judged by his
race or his creed, but by his acts. If he is a good
citizen, it is none of our business, whether he is
a Jew or a Gentile, a Christian or an infidel, a
Catholic or a Protestant. On the other hand,
however, if any of these classes or if a number
of them combine and undertake to do any harm
to our institutions, to destroy our free schools or
to oppress any class of out people, we then stand
pledged to curb their lawless acts, not be causeof what they believe or where they were born,
but because of the things they are trying to do.
"We hope that other localities will likewise
organize and that no officer can be elected in
Texas to any office who is not against mob rule
and in favor of a government by law."
Many Citizens Approve.
Many citizens called Monday at the
headquarters of the committee to authorize the
use of their names in indorsing the purpose of
the meeting, others signed the petitions that
were being circulated and still others wrote
letters of endorsement. Name of additional
