comprises 60 sections of land, the tax on
each amounting to $3.10; the sale will oc
cur on September 4. the first Tuesday in
the month.
The Methodist Episcopal church has
undertaken to build a church atTimms
City, have organized a society and secured
a subscription of $400 for their proposed
building. $500 is wanted.
The Santa Fe road has issued orders
for the preliminary survey of a new line
from Englewood, Kansas, to the Panhan-
dle, and speculation is rife as to the route
U will take and where it will go.
The Panhandle Editorial Association is
to meet at New-Jerusalem on the 10 of the
month for their regular session and will
leave on a freo excursion to Denver, Coir
orado the same evening over the Fort
Worth & Denver road.
An election has been ordered by the
Commissioner s court of Carson county to
he held on August 30 to determine wheth-
er or not hogs, sheep and goats shall be
allowed to run at large in precinct Num-
ber one in that county.

Senator Ransom, who is a mem-
ber of the democratie national com-
mitee, vehemently denies the rumor
that Mr. Brice, the chairman of the
executive commitcc is indignant at
