tistics and History to have a geolo-
gical and miuerological survey made
of the State of Texas, and to make

chapter 132 of an act passed at the
Samuel Cole, living north of Lipscomb,
has been adj udged insane. The^ause was
financial reverses.
A mail line has been granted from Ful-
ton, Neutral Strip, to Hansford to go into
operation July 1.
Tasrosa society recently treated itself
to a fish fry and picnic in which much fhn
was had all around.
The general round up for the North

Sweetwater Sunday last.
Texline is the name of the town where
the railroad crosses the line between the
Panhandle and New Mexico.
Tnenew court house at Lipscomb has
been fitted up in elegant style and sur-
rounded with a neat ience.
A basket meeting is to be held at Mc-
Donald's Grove on Mammnth creek in
The Only Bank doing an exclusive banking business in the Panhandle.

A meeting has been held at Lipscomb
looking to the erection of a new Methodist
church building at Lipscomb.
Three indictments were found by the
Grand Jury of Oldham at the late term of
the District court held at Tascosa,
Ochiltree has a hack line now to Liberal,
Kansas, by way ot Paloduro and Boyd
City making two trips each week.

The Amarillo Champion appeared last
week. It is a live colnmn quarto under
the management of H. H.Brookes.
Tne petition praying for the organi-
zation of Carson county has been granted
and an election ordered for June 12.
The mail route has at last been extended
over the Fort Worth & Denver road from
Clarendon to Texline and on through to
Denver.
Lipscomb hopes to have several large
brick buildings erected this season, one of
them for a bank. Kilns for 150,000 brick
are now being made.
A man named Hudson recently stole
three lior es belonging to Hightower and
Hoyt at Tascosa and has not been cap-
tured. He pulled for the territory.
A freight train was derailed a few miles
west of Amarillo on Monday night of last
week and the engineer was killcdrtuid the
fireman and front brakeman seriously burt^
Recent rains washed out the railroad
bridge across Pease rivera short time

days, making Quanah the terminus for a

A school election has been ordered in
district number4, Lipscomb county. In
the four other precincts the school tax ot
