Good:Logic.—Bruddr r Bones can you tell me
de difference 'tween dyinji and dieting V' Why
ob corae I can, Lemuel. When you diet you live
on noffin, and when you die, you have nnffin. to
live on." "Well, dat's diflerent from what I ton
it was. I tort it wus a race atween the doctorin

A Life Income.—The Florence (Italy) corres-
pondent of the Traveler writes :
"We have here a man, seven feet in height
well-formed, who has sold his body to the Aca-
demy of Medicine for a pension of half a dollar
per diem during life. They are covetous of hi*
skeleton, but as he looks as healthy as he is large,
and may live halfa century longer, his bones are
like! V' to cost them rather dear. At Pisa there is
another giant gifted with Yankee shrewdness as
well as collossal dimensions, for he has sold his
frame to two distinct corporations. It will need
another Solomon ií> divide him after death, so as
to satisfy bolh. Probably each hope he will live
to spite the other."
The Matrimonial lielation,— Matrimony i«
first a sentiment, then a matter of fact, and finally
a union or a revulsion of interests, obligations
aspirations and affections. This last sums up
the p-oblem which must soon be solved, when the
parties come to discover whether the elective af-
finities were rightly chosen or not. and if they
are matched as well as paired; or if their cha-
racteristic elements are so discordant and hetero-
geneous that there is no more tendency to coalesce
than oil with water, or felinity with catalinity.—
This exploration of tastes, tempers and charac-
ters, is the crux of matrimony. After this ordeal
ly come endurance, reconciliation, submission,
jy, and ending where it should have be-
gan, in love. Divorces seldom or never occur
with the old sojourners, and it is more in ancient
than in new that must be witnessed the
r, joy and triumphs of matrimo-
when the effervescence is over, and the wine
life has been left clearer, purer and sweeter.

hi Is not the injury to the owner as great in the
one case as the other 1 True, crime consists, in
many instances, as much or more in the intention
as in the act itself. In borrowing an article
which you keep, the intention is absent, but the
act is present. • You keep not take that which be-
longs to another! Is it absolutely honest to do so?
If you answer NO! then bestir yourself and stop
not until you have made all the restitution in your

the ladies and gentlemen of New Orleans, my commenc-

their kind, liberal ami constant patronage during a period
of thirty years, I beg to inform them that I commence
this day to liquidate my affairs for thefpurpose of retiring
