o The mite Meeting, which met
at the residonco of Capt P. E.Pear-
son's was ano of the most oujoyablo
of the season, at quito an early
hou thospuoious parlors were filled
to its utmost capacity with the
youth and talent of tho city, the
entertainment consisted of music
and recitations. Miss Weston pre-
sided at tho piano and held ontuiho
ed tho eager listeaers, as the sweet
notes were brought forth breathing
melody from hor magic touch. Miss
Weston is onoof our most brilliant
performers on that instrument. The
recitations by the Misses Boyd 'and
Denhnm were unexceptional, it is
raro ihat^their equal as declamers
aro met with. Miss Josy surpassed
any of her former efforts in recita-
tion, Miss Boyd displayed grace of
attitude, combined with perfect dis-
tinct ennunciation as she ¡admirably
rendered the "Maniac" and the
'Angel of Mercy." Mr. Carpenter
read a piece in his 'usual pleasaut
style, which was loudly applauded.
All in all, it was one of the most
pleasant of the Mite Meetings, and
a full attei.dance was a pleasant
proof of the intérest taken by our
intelligent citizen, showing a grow-
ing appreciation. After the dissmis
