We are somewhat sorprised at this
Scotch verdict (one not proved) of

The Free School system.
We take Ihe following timely utter-
ances from an uxchapge. The RadU
cal free achwol system is the nursery
of despotism, but in this State it adds
to this inevitable and revolting feature,
that of an organized robbery, which
'ratiát)if not broken up, impoverish every
white man and woman in tho Slate,
'the forcibly taking by the (Joverntneut
of o río'man's money and giving it to
anttllier is, morally, ha iniquitous as
highway robbery by an individual. It
is reidb more willed, because of its
wantonness. Want may drive ati indi-
vidual to desperate nets—Governments
can claim ro snch excuse.
Uet-els the article. Rend and redact:
".The course which some of our
Democratic exchanges are pursuing in
reference to the school law, is, we think,
in the highest degree reprehensible.
"Some otthem regard the abomination as

robbing white people, and giving carpet

stitutea the chief part of the burden
which Is now upon our shoulders, and
which is paralysing our energies, crip-

progress out of the dillicukieh in which
we were placed by a disastrous war,
