ot the civil law. as it obtained prior to rhe ac
quisition ot Louisiana, and subsequently, which
are passed «pon—the learned and able briefs of
the eminent counsel then at th^ bar—renders
this work of the greatest importance, in all
those States and Territories formerly under the
jurisdiction of 1 pain ; while at the same time,
the notes afford a ready reference to the subse-
quent adjudications of the Supreme Court of
this State.
The original twenty volumes, comprising all the ca-
ses of the Supreme Court of Louisiana, from
1809 to 1830, will be published in ten vol
umes—price to subscribers, five dollar- per
\olume, and to non-subscribers, six dollars per
volume—cash in all cases. Neither expense
nor labor will be spared to make the work in
every respect worthy of the patronage of the
profession. It will be published complete and
ready for delivery in this city by the 1st of De-
cember next, until which daté subscriptions
will be received
It is the intention of the publisher to follow it up
with a new edition of the louisana re-
ports, noted in the same manner: and also to
publish new editions of the civil code and
code of practice. In the latter works
it is proposed to publish the original text en-
tire; follow each article with the statutaryamend-
ments entire, and the decisions of the Supreme
Court upon each, by reference to the volume
and page.
Such works will require great labor and care ; and
as they will be executed under the immediate
superintendence of the anno'ator of Martin's
Reports, i think they can be safely commended
to the especial attention of the profession
Some progress has already Jjeen made in these
works, and they will be published as soon as
may be compatible with the utmost accuracy

■ Dr 8. Reynolds —J)ear Sir,—Having for many
years been afflicted with two lar^e and inveterate
Cancers, (the one on my right arm and the other on
my left arm,) i sought relief in vain, althbugh under
charge of our most eminent and experienced sur
geons. Hearing of your successful treatment of
cancers, 1 determined to have the benefit of your
experience, and for this purpose came to New Or-
leans eight months ago. When under your charge,
i speedily found relief and c ure, in your mild and ef-
ficient mode of treatment, without the use or aid of
the knife. The cancer taken from my hand weigh-
ed* fully i lb., and that from my arm fib; but in a
few weeks the healthy flesh was restored to the parts
the same as if i had never been afflicted. As a to-
ken of gratitude to you for the cure thus made, i
voluntarily add this, my testimony, to your volumi-

cers may be induced to call on you and be cured as
i was. Your grateful friend,
